Regarding the new format of the Champions League, UEFA has introduced significant changes. Instead of 32 teams divided into 8 groups, this edition has 36 teams that will compete in a league phase. During this stage, all teams will face each other in eight different matches, half at home and the rest away.
At the end of this phase, a general table will be established, and the top eight teams will advance directly to the round of 16. Teams ranked from ninth to twenty-fourth will play a two-legged playoff round to determine the last eight teams to qualify for the next phase. Teams ranked from 25th onwards will be eliminated and will not have the opportunity to play in the Europa League, as had been the case in previous editions.
