A 28-year-old man who felt sentenced to servitude, recently turned himself in to the police at home, where he expressed regret for the committed crime and expressed a desire to return the stolen sum.
The Dutch police has finally cracked the case about the theft of heating fuel almost ten years after the committed crime. The suspect seems to have decided to turn himself in because of his servitude sentences. The crime took place on January 18, 2016, when an unknown thief took hundreds of euros worth of heating fuel in southern Holland, in the town of Terneuzen.
Despite the detailed description of the suspect, provided by the cashier, the police could not find him, and the case remained unsolved. However, authorities recently announced that they have identified the suspect. Prosecutors are currently considering how to proceed further in this case.
