New Zealand Cyclist Suspended for Punching Rival

The International Cycling Union (UCI) has decided to suspend New Zealand cyclist Kean Watt for 25 days after he punched a fellow competitor during a race last month. Video footage shows the 24-year-old Watt striking Dutch rider Marianne Mass in the head during the Ster van Zwolle race in the Netherlands on March 7. The UCI clarified that Watt has accepted the suspension and will be sidelined until May 2. In a statement, the UCI said: 'Kean Watt will undergo a suspension of 25 days, including the one-day suspension imposed by his team on March 8, which will be counted within the suspension period.' Following the incident, Watt issued an apology on social media, stating he acted in a moment of anger, and his team, NSN Development, also apologized. The team said: 'The team expects its riders to compete with a sporting and professional attitude at all times.'
