The Dutch parliament approved on Tuesday a proposal submitted by deputies Michael Bohn and Geert Wilders from the 'Party for Freedom' aimed at banning the Muslim Brotherhood organization and its affiliated groups. The proposal was based on a report by the French government warning of 'the gradual and long-term penetration of the Muslim Brotherhood, which ultimately aims to establish an Islamic empire governed by Sharia'. This decision came after repeated attempts by the party to secure a majority, which had previously failed. The proposal passed after the 'Christian Union' and '50Plus' parties changed their previous opposing stance, and after deputies from parties (VVD, SGP, JA21, BBB, FVD), as well as deputy Mona Kaiser and the Marcusweer group, joined.
