Recently, former footballer of the Netherlands national team Robin van Persie was appointed head coach of Feyenoord, where he previously played. Van Persie leaves his new role at the club Heracles, where he began his coaching career. The contract with the 41-year-old forward, who is a record holder for the number of goals scored for the Netherlands national team (50 goals in 102 matches), is set until June 2027.
Fan Persie replaces interim coach Brian Priske, who was dismissed earlier this month. He will lead a team that previously participated in the Champions League, where they will meet Italian Inter in the round of 16, as well as occupy third place in the national championship, trailing the leader Ajax by 11 points.
After a successful career as a player with Feyenoord, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Turkish Fenerbahçe, van Persie began his coaching activity with the youth team of Feyenoord, where he worked with players up to 18 years until the end of last season. After that, he moved to Heracles, which currently occupies ninth place in the league.
