However, he decided to step down from his role four months before the global tournament in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Advocaat, who has coached in eight countries around the world, wants to stay close to his daughter, who, according to the Dutch press, suffers from serious health issues. "I have always said that family comes first, so my decision is natural," he said. Advocaat will miss Curaçao, its people, and his colleagues very much. "I consider qualifying the smallest country in the world for the World Cup to be one of the greatest achievements of my career, and I am proud of the players, staff, and administrators who trusted us," he added.
