The International Criminal Court took measures to protect its employees from potential American sanctions, including paying their salaries three months in advance.
The ICC supported this step, stating that such actions by the USA could seriously harm the work and independence of the International Criminal Court.
"These sanctions undermine the entire international justice system. We cannot allow our judges and staff to be subjected to threats and pressure," commented the spokesperson of the ICC.
The incident has caused alarm in the international community, as such attacks on legal institutions undermine the principles of the rule of law and international cooperation.
