Police in the Netherlands announced on Thursday that they have started an investigation into the use of information by police regarding violence against protesters supporting the Palestinians, following the disbandment of a banned march in the evening.
Police deployed water cannon and rubber bullets to disperse a demonstration in The Hague, which had taken place in violation of a ban on public gatherings in connection with the pandemic. Hundreds of participants took to the streets to express their support for Palestinians in connection with the conflict in the Middle East.
Organizers of the event claim that the police used excessive force, and also assert that several people were injured and detained. As a result, shop windows were broken and some cars were damaged.
The police prevented marches after participants refused to disperse, despite the requirements. An investigation is expected to determine whether police force was justified or not.
