Ajax was eliminated from the KNVB Cup after a humiliating 6-0 loss to hosts Alkmaar on Wednesday, matching their worst result this century and their heaviest defeat in the competition since 1927. The Amsterdam club, last Dutch Cup winners in 2021, suffered their second six-goal defeat in recent years, after losing by the same score to Feyenoord in April 2024. The 20-time Dutch Cup champions had not suffered such a humiliating defeat in the tournament since a 7-0 loss to Enschede Boys nearly 99 years ago. Alkmaar started strongly, with Troy Parrott scoring a hat-trick, including two first-half goals and a third in the 80th minute. Bert Kooijman, Kees Smit and İbrahim Şaş completed the home side's rout. Parrott, who joined Alkmaar in 2024, has scored 39 goals and provided 9 assists for the club. Ajax's misery on the humiliating day was compounded by Owen Wandal's 66th-minute red card for a foul on Foutre Gousse.
