Jordi, son of the legendary Johan Cruyff, has been appointed as the sporting director of the Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam. The 51-year-old Cruyff will take up his new duties starting February 1st, signing a contract that extends until June 2028. One of his first tasks will be to find a new head coach for the team after the dismissal of John Heitinga. Cruyff said: «There's no need to say how much this means to my family and to me personally. On the pitch that carries my father's name, and at the club that has been important to me since I was a child». Ajax is 18 points behind league leader PSV Eindhoven and recently suffered a heavy defeat, losing 0:6 to Alkmaar in the cup.
