The police of the Netherlands arrested five protesters who participated in support of Palestine. The incident occurred in the city of The Hague when a group of activists organized a rally in one of the central squares. The detainees are accused of violating public order and refusing to disperse the assembly upon the demand of law enforcement agencies.
One of the participants of the protest stated: "We only wanted to draw attention to the catastrophic situation in the Palestinian territories. Our goal was peaceful, and we did not intend to break the laws."
The police warned the protesters that their gathering contradicts measures to combat the pandemic, but they refused to leave the square. Each of the detainees received a fine for violating the law on safety measures during the pandemic.
